"Blues Is My Business and Business is Good"

Posted by Picasa Blues is His Business but Larry McCray only gives pleasure. Maybe you can see me tucked into the corner behind the railing; while Ize of the World takes another photo! This pic though was taken by Scott Minier of MI Mule fame! NYE in Chicago at The Kingston Mines...Someone once asked me, as he felt the tears come to his eyes; the rush of everything that was overwhelming him choking and crushing the words out of his mouth..."what are we gonna do, c?" Of course he had an idea in his mind of how he could manage to survive his pain, it being a rhetorical question and all...But his beauty and strength even in the midst of such momentary sadness, there in the middle of a venue, as the tunes started to roll off the stage, struck my heart. My soul blossomed. And then I had this idea, sweet inspiration from my good friend. I began to realize that Larry McCray, Warren Haynes, Allen Woody, Jerry Garcia, Kris Kristofferson, Vladimir Horowitz, Dave Brubeck, Miles and Coltrane as well as MC5, and so many other people such as mentors, teachers, lovers, enemies, strangers and friends have taught me...hold onto the music, and you will always be "all right." I realized that music, MUSIC, will always get you through whatever it is you must do! Mr. McCray and his Excellent Band have more than once taught me that we can all survive a "Delta Hurricane" just as long as we keep our "Soulshine" bright! Sometimes music is in a form that can't be heard...perhaps it is a formula E=MC2, maybe it's in the fractal geometry of Pollock, or the smile on the Mona Lisa, music manifests in more than just the language of sound. Open your heart and you'll be all right. Use your imagination and you will "see" the light.
